Dr Devasmitha Venkataraman
I have been a consultant paediatrician at South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust since late 2013. I have a particular interest in paediatric allergy especially as my daughter suffered severe allergies from a young age. I currently lead the paediatric allergy Services at South Tees Hospital NHS Trust and I regularly deliver clinics at The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.
Having completed my MSc in allergy with distinction and research in paediatric allergies as a part of my MSc (which has subsequently been published in indexed journals), I have developed a deeper understanding of allergies and their management. I continue my interest in research as a primary investigator in various NIHR portfolio studies within the NHS. I also happen to be the British society of allergy and Clinical immunology (BSACI) digital health representative to the Royal College of Physicians (RCP).
I am passionate about providing patient centric and high quality care and have been involved in various quality improvement projects locally in Allergy Services within the South Tees Trust as well as with the CCG. Having family members affected by allergic conditions, I am well aware of the impact of allergies on quality of life. I strongly believe that education and support during consultations and beyond is critical in helping families manage their allergies. Development of the Beat anaphylaxis website is a welcome next step and I am delighted to be able to support with its resource development.
