Dr Andrew Bright
I am a consultant paediatrician in Gateshead and an honorary paediatric allergist at the Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. I also sit on the national British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology’s anaphylaxis steering committee. In addition, I hold an associate clinical lecturer position at Newcastle University and have clinical advisor role with the North East and North Cumbria Child Health & Wellbeing Network.
Following completion of my undergraduate medical degree at University of Warwick and early postgraduate medical rotations in Scotland and New Zealand, I entered run-through paediatric training in the London Deanery. I completed ST1-3 in the capital before continuing my training in the North East of England from 2014.
During this time I worked across the region as a Speciality Registrar in Paediatrics, whilst completing an RCPCH Special Interest Module and postgraduate study in Allergy. I also gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education at Newcastle University, and began leading the development of the BeatAnaphylaxis project during the final stages of my paediatric training programme.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy playing golf, dabbling in mixology and travelling with my wonderful wife and my three energetic children.
I am very passionate about what we at Beat Anaphylaxis are trying to achieve. I am thoroughly committed to championing this collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to enhance the lives of children and young people suffering with anaphylaxis.
