James Gardner
I am an Allergy Nurse Consultant at the Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle. I have previously worked with the allergy teams at St Mary’s Hospital, Evelina Children’s Hospital, Royal Free Hospital & Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, all in London. I hold a MSc in Allergy from the University of Southampton.
Following relocation to the North East, I currently work as the Children’s and Young Persons Allergy Nurse Consultant at the Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle and am Associate Clinical Lecturer at Newcastle University in my role as programme lead of the Postgraduate Allergy Emodule.
I am the Secretary of the Allied Health working group in the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. In addition I am involved in several European task force groups through the academy including competencies for allied health working allergy and M-health. I have also been part of the expert panel for the recent anaphylaxis and food allergy gu idelines and I am an associate editor of Clinical and Translational Allergy journal.
My main research interests are in food allergy and allergic rhinitis. I continue to be involved with many food allergy support groups and regularly on various allergy social media grou ps (Twitter: @allergynurseuk).
