Samhitha Alavala
I am a medical student at Newcastle University, having just completed my fourth year of study and will be progressing to my final year in August 2021. I have a keen interest in paediatric medicine and primary care.
I chose to do the ‘Student Selected Component’ of my degree in the Paediatric Allergy department in the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in April-May 2021. During this time, I had the pleasure of learning from the incredible team who work here, and gaining a greater insight into the experiences of patients with allergies (not to mention also strengthening my passion for paediatrics!). Additionally, I created an educational video aimed at university students, on the topic of anaphylaxis – including recognition, triggers, and management.
I am thrilled to be a part of the Beat Anaphylaxis team, and I am looking forward to further developing resources to promote knowledge surrounding anaphylaxis and allergy to enhance patient care.
