Quick Assessment A – Charlotte

 

Charlotte is an 8-month-old infant who attends with a sudden onset blotchy rash, which developed after self-feeding (baby-led weaning) peanut butter on bread.

  • The rash is widespread but is not itchy.
  • It is the 3rd time that the rash has appeared in this way, but mum feels it is appearing more rapidly and is becoming more extensive.
  • Mum herself has an allergy to fish and hayfever.
  • Initial observations are:  Saturations 99% in room air; pulse rate 110 per minute; respiratory rate 25 per minute.
